GIVING: Portrait of Philanthropy | UM Medicine

As a portrait photographer, I've had the privilege of capturing countless human stories of resilience and strength. Anthony Beyer’s story of an entrepreneur turned cancer patient turned oncology philanthropist is no different.

I photographed Beyer, who has had a successful career as the Principal at Poinciana Capital Partners, at his West Palm Beach home, surrounded by his collection of contemporary art, and with his pup by his side.

Anthony was diagnosed with melanoma several years ago and eventually turned to Dr. José Lutzky, director of both cutaneous oncology services and the Clinical Trials Coordinating Unit at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Beyer credits Dr. Lutzky with saving his life and wanted to support his research.

Thanks to Beyer's philanthropic donation of $250,000 towards a clinical trial on ocular melanoma, a rare type of eye cancer, future patients can benefit from the same expert care that saved his life, and continue to appreciate the beauty of visual arts, just as he does.
